I ran across this link (http://www.gmarts.org/index.php?go=340) while browsing around the internet. It brings up a lot of thoughts that every working (or want to be working) musician should at least consider.
In particular, the section on "Know The People" is more than worth reading. As musicians, we have spent a lot of time practicing, rehearsing and perfecting the music we play. Sometimes we don't realize that what we do between songs is just as important - possibly more important that the music we play. In the article, the author makes the point that what we think is most important may not be the same as what the audience is noticing. He states:
In this order, your average audience will notice:
- Firstly, your presentation - how you do what you do
- You're appearance - what you look like
- Lastly, your music - what you sound like
This is only one point the the excellent, well written article. I urge you to take the time to read the entire article. It will be well worth the few seconds you spend.
